Uluru (Ayers Rock) Field of Light Sunrise Tour image
Internationally acclaimed artist Bruce Munro’s Field of Light, inspired by a trip to Uluru 24-years ago, has been installed in a remote desert area within sight of majestic Uluru.

In the quiet of pre-dawn, this once in a lifetime experience will be etched in your mind forever. Arrive at Field of Light while the earth is still blanketed in darkness and wander through the field of 50,000 glowing spheres of colour while Desert Oaks seemingly appear from nowhere as the dawn light creeps above the horizon. You’ll eventually make your way to the top of an ancient sand dune where you’ll see the first rays of sunrise set the desert sky alight, flooding the landscape with warm light while you enjoy tea, coffee and hot chocolate with stunning views of Uluru.
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Field of Light, Ayers Rock, Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Northern Territory Australia

• Depart the resort in total darkness for the short drive to Bruce Munro’s renowned Field of Light installation
• Take it all in from a private dune-top as your host provides details of the artist and his incredible undertaking
• Wander through the paths surrounding the 50,000 hand-crafted frosted glass spheres of light, in colours of ochre, deep violet, blue and gentle white
• Why not find a quiet corner, covered under a blanket of stars, to immerse yourself in the silence?
• Return to the dune-top, where you'll be served a warming tea, coffee or hot chocolate. Watch as the dawn creeps across the desert plain and lights up Uluru – don’t forget to look out for Kata Tjuta behind you!

Return to the resort in time for breakfast, all flight transfers or further activities.

Hi-there-all 2022-06-28

We did the sunset drinks and canapés tour for this. The drinks were good beer, wine and soft drinks but the canapés were not much and awful. You are given a canapés box and on opening it looked awful and tasted even worse. The worst was a tiny brioche kangaroo bun, there was a tiny bun with an even tinnier piece of meat so basically you are eating a bun and they were all like this. Food and drinks is a waste of time. The field of lights was good once dark was excellent, so just do the field of lights tour with no drinks and canapés is my advice.

Booked this tour because we missed out on the evening field of lights entry (which was cheaper), but ended up really enjoying this experience. Worth getting up in the morning to see the field of lights in the dark and then experience the day come to life with the sunrise. Driver Mimi and guide (I forget his name) were excellent working with such a big group - the bus was fully seated. Recommend this option if a morning tour works out best for your schedule.

An experience of a lifetime! The incredible changing colours of the lights and the sky were magical. Seeing Uluṟu emerge from the darkness as a backdrop to it all was the icing on the cake. Our tour guide Anna was excellent in her commentary and in taking lovely photos of us.

I will never use any tour associated with AAT Kings again or Viator. Unbeknown to us and other passengers Our tour was cancelled. Absolutely no communication, no email, no message, no phone call. When i tried to ring there was no answer, I left messages awaiting a return email or call to no avail. We were a group of 6 and others waiting from 5.30am for our coach to arrive. When we asked other AAT king tour coaches what was happening they assured us it was just down the road and to be patient. Finally at 6.50 another coach tour took the time to actually look it up and tell me it had been cancelled. When I approached the AAT kings reception later that day to re book another tour, the lady was so unbelievably rude that i walked away. I have emailed both viator and AAT Kings about this and still yet to receive any apology or explanation. No return call, no response to my emails. These companies cannot be trusted. Perhaps after I vent on social media , they may finally find time to respond !!!

Unfortunately our Field of Lights Sunrise tour was cancelled by AAT - Viator, they advised that due to rain in previous days it was unsuitable from their viewing ground. We did venture out ourselves to Uluṟu that morning and had a delightful time walking around the rock. We are still awaiting the refund from Viator. We had booked for the 3 June 2022 and it is now the 6 June 2022, so hopefully we will be refunded in the next couple of days. Therefore we are unable to review as appropriate.

The morning we went it was raining, but the experience was still truely beautiful and a bit mind blowing. The rain didn’t decrease the experience at all and our guide and driver were great. The guide Tosh gave a wonderful explanation of the field of lights and Colin the driver had everything set up with warm drinks post our experience.. A wonderful one off experience.

After not being able to get on the sunset tour. We decided to do the sunrise tour. Our bus driver JAKOB and guide THUSH did a fantastic job. They both brought great energy to the tour. I would suggest bringing a rain jacket as it lightly rain on us. Also a head torch or small torch would be handy. We will be definitely coming back to do the sunset tour in the near future Great service AAT Kings! Cheers . . . . Glen, Pauline & Leanne
