Tour of Transnistria image
I do postcards with my drawings and budget tours to top attractions and hidden gems of Transnistria. Honestly, I can’t make Maldives of my country, because it is not Maldives. But i can make an unforgettable journey through all contrasts of what it really is - beautiful panoramas and impressive soviet lost places, curious history and nowadays life in the country that doesn't exist, combining classic walk with forays for true explorers and adventurers.

Tour takes 2,5 hours, though Transnistria deserves at least a week. It is not Stalinism, we are very volatile where to go and what to do, but default route covers must-see USSR era and modern bits of Tiraspol, plus my favorite nooks and crannies that I discovered doing my sketches. The trip won’t be exhausting, not boring at all, we will have time to talk about all peculiarities of past and present of Transnistria, real name is Pridnestrovie ☭
You won’t be meeting a guide, you will be meeting a friend!

Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: House of Soviets, 25 Oktyabrya St., 101, Tiraspol Moldova

Are you ready to travel beyond borders, above quarantine? Virtual tour is a teaser, sneak peek, but it’s lifeboat for my family so I made it as close to real tour as possible. You will just dive behind the screen, I will show some jaw-down places where I haven’t took anyone on real tours even. Don’t be afraid to spoil your real trip with virtual, it is impossible to fit everything in a couple of hours, even a week of exploration is not enough to see and tell everything. Content of virtual tour may vary from listed below, actually I ready for sequence of two streams - combining Tiraspol and Bendery, city parts and abandoned parts. Transnistria is urbex paradise. Hope to see you soon in the material world, but by now, sit back and relax, see you online soon. And thank you for support, spasibo!

Top attractions listed here usually form only small part of the route, because my ideology is to show hidden gems that travelers wouldn’t find themselves. Subsequently that’s why places we actually go are not mentioned here. Let it be a surprise, okay? Also we may customize certain things on the shore or along the road, please check out brutal version of my tour, a few guys reacted that it’s better than Chernobyl. Luckily we don’t have radiation here but some lost places from gone era are really eerie. I can’t reveal abandoned places I discovered without risk that they will never immediately spoiled Andy taken by tourist industry. Transnistria is urbex paradise, it’s like Chernobyl before 1986 and after all-in-one, without crowds of people, without risk of radiation and low-cost. Anyway, what about House of Soviets - it is great example of Stalin ampire, must-see attraction and selfie-place in Tiraspol. Don’t forget to make photos - that is a proof of existence of Transnistria!

Duration: 5 minutes

Stop At: Mig-19 Monument, Yunosti St., Tiraspol Moldova

Aviator memorial can be found at Balka dst. It commemorates thirty years of victory in the Great Patriotic war. I didn’t add all hidden gems in between these listed attractions, but they are great to make the tour really unforgettable and contrast! Highly recommend brutal tour - some lost places we have here are more impressive than Chernobyl. My wife says no one should go to Chernobyl, but every other traveler I meet either just came from there or is heading there next. Luckily there was no radiation here, it was ussr collapse. Finally we have an option to go to some eerie lost places from gone era that will satisfy lovers of Tarkovsky cinematography or post-apocalyptic movies, it is a way to explore “exclusion zone” without radiation risk or crowds of people you definitely see around in actual Chernobyl exclusion zone. I also can’t reveal these places here, just make notice, adventurers, it’s also tour of a lifetime!

Duration: 5 minutes

Stop At: Tiraspol, Tiraspol, Transnistria

For lovers of Tarkovsky cinematography, post-apocalyptic movies and USSR legacy there is a brutal version of the tour. Impressive soviet lost places and Chernobyl style cityscapes of Transnistria will make your heart beat faster and leave you speechless, I can’t reveal where we go without the risk of subsequent demolition of these eerie gems, but I guarantee unforgettable trip. It is also important to keep these urban wastelands a secret for keeping melancholic atmosphere of solitude, you know, the best and only way to explore such things is to do it alone, let’s keep it this way. No one can predict how long these communism remains will be accessible so the whole idea is to discover everything while it still exists and do it without overcrowd of people. In a way, this journey is a chance to explore a version of Chernobyl “exclusion zone” without crowds of tourists that overfill real Pripyat and actual Chernobyl exclusion zone. There is no radiation here luckily, it’s not radiation that killed the place, it’s perestroika. We can do a combo of beautiful hidden views of Tiraspol and views of abandoned beauty of decay.

Iv travelled extensively through out the world and this by far was one of the coolest things I have done. It was all because of Anton. That man is incredible. An incredibly, wise and passionate human being as well as a fantastic and knowledgeable guide. The man is hilarious, very witty and loves a good time. Do yourself a favor & go visit Transnistria with this legend. Don’t listen to the media, Transnistria is super safe. Thank you Anton.

Fantastic tour, Anton is super knowledgable and has loads of quirky facts that ensure you leave Transnistria knowing more than just its general history. Lots of laughs were also had and the experience was fun and friendly. Highly recommend if you want to see and learn about this fascinating part of Moldova (or country as they would have it!). It’s also helpful to have a native speaker with you as the locals know next to no English! No spoilers but make sure to ask for the rap 😉 bonus points because Anton illustrates beautiful postcards of the city 👏🏻

Anton is a wonderful guide, he takes the time to explain historical events thoroughly and connects them with real-world sights. It was fantastic to walk around Tiraspol and Bendery with him. I got to see many Soviet artefacts and sights that I otherwise would never have seen, and got fantastic explanations to go with it. He was engaging and interactive when recounting history. He speaks English so well, and likes to tell great little anecdotes. I would highly, highly recommend coming to Transnistria and getting a tour with Anton.

While the geopolitical situation has changed drastically since my last visit to Tiraspol, Anton's friendly and informative tours are still as valuable as ever. He took us to the best-known places and a few hidden gems while detailing the history of Pridnestrovie and giving us some insights into current events. There's a reason why Anton is seen as the "go-to" guy for foreigners visiting this fascinating place - you get all the information you need with a large dose of fun and humour :)

We loved the in-depth knowledge and friendly manner in which it was delivered. We had a great time walking around the city of Tiraspol learning the history of the area and how it fit into the USSR. I would recommend to everyone to visit Transnistria and definitely go with Anton for your personalised, very interesting tour of a fascinating city. A brilliant place for urban exploring.

We did the virtual tour due to Covid-19 and really enjoyed it. Anton did a great job of adapting his tour with a combination of prerecorded footage and live commentary. We really enjoyed his stories, his jokes and the beautiful videos. We learned so much, but in a fun way, and really want to visit and go on a tour with Anton in person some day!

Favorite part was meeting Anton. He's kind of a nerd in a good way. Goofy jokes and a lot of hidden gems and information. Perfect English. He's so cute and charming and attentive to everyone. Some of the people couldn't handle all the walking and he was understanding and helpful. I only heard of Transnistria from someone at the hostel in Moldova. There was a brochure in the hostel in Tiraspol and his customer service is awesone. He even knew the times the trains were leaving to get to Chisinau. I'm so glad I got to experience Anton

Anton is a great guide and provides lots of interesting information. This is more than just a tour around the city, but rather you also can discover less know places. A must-do tour for anyone interested in getting to know the stories and experiences of people of this unique and beautiful region. Looking forward to visiting Transnistria again.

I visited Tiraspol and Bender with Anton as my guide. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience as Anton is very knowledgable and passionate about his city and his country. I am convinced that I would not be able see the special sights I saw without Anton.

I am used to walking tour but this one with Anton was one of the best ever!! It was always interesting, entertaining and I learned a lot (especially about he topic I was interested in: art and life of the locals) Anton shared a lot of interesting thoughts that stuck in my mind, I really feel like I grew from it... Huge thanks Anton and wish you the best!
